Center Stage Dance Academy (CSDA – www.danceatcsda.com) has brought home top honors in a number of recent Chicagoland dance competitions. CSDA’s ENVISION Dance Company has performed eighteen numbers in six regional competitions over the last two months. The Huntley studio’s competition teams formed in 2008 with a small group of dancers and has grown to 41 students and shown amazing improvement.
Competing against studios from all over the Midwest, CSDA performed at MOVE, Celebration Talent Competition, LA Dance Magic, Cathy Roe’s Ultimate Dance Competition, Bravo! National Dance & Talent Competition, and Hall of Fame Dance Challenge in February, March, and April. The ENVISION team consistently earns high scores among all age groups.
Most recently at the Hall of Fame Dance Challenge on April 13-15 at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, CSDA competed against 48 other studios for a total of 1,063 entries. ENVISION received 8 First Place Platinums, 8 Platinums, 1 First Place High Gold and 1 High Gold in addition to 8 Judge’s Choice Awards including 2 Precision Awards and a Choreography Award. Soloist Tyler Nowotnik competed against 47 other soloists and took 1st place overall, a Precision Award and best in the Contemporary category.
Center Stage’s success has not gone unnoticed. Competing studios have even expressed their admiration of the ENVISION dance company. “Some dancers from another studio came up to me and told me what a good job we all did,” said Tyler N., 15 of Huntley, IL. “That was kind of cool.” In May 2011, the studio was selected as part of the Disney Performing Arts program to perform a 25-minute show at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL on November 1, 2011.
“I could not be happier with the progress our teams have made over the last 3 years,” said Debbie Nowotnik, CSDA’s owner and artistic director. “It is exciting to have so many people come forward to compliment our company and our performances. I remember when we were complimenting other studios and saying, “Wow, we want to be like them”. Now other studios are saying that about ENVISION!”
